The EBBC is hosted by Fraunhofer IFAM. Fraunhofer IFAM is one of the most important independent research institutes in Europe in the fields of “Adhesive Bonding Technology and Surfaces” and “Shaping and Functional Materials”. The institute has many years of experience in battery research and development as well as in professional training.
Battery research and development at Fraunhofer IFAM
Materials and process engineering aspects are in the foreground at Fraunhofer IFAM to develop solutions for electrical, chemical, and thermal energy storage systems. The focus is on Li-ion, solid-state, and metal/air batteries.
For research into next-generation batteries, a laboratory for the development of solid-state batteries is available at Fraunhofer IFAM in Bremen. The institute is also involved in the Fraunhofer Project Center for Energy Storage and Systems ZESS at the Braunschweig site. There, the research focus is on the fields of solid-state batteries and chemical hydrogen storage.
Our commitment to education
Continuing education at Fraunhofer IFAM
Fraunhofer IFAM has been involved in technology transfer for 25 years. R&D results that are published or arise from publicly funded projects can be immediately included in the relevant courses. Therefore, the knowledge generators are simultaneously the transferors of knowledge!
The Training Centers at Fraunhofer IFAM provide a direct link between cutting-edge R&D activities and the training of employees in industry. This is an ideal modern scenario for technology transfer: timely, topical, industry-oriented, professional.
The training courses at Fraunhofer IFAM benefit a diverse range of industries. Features of the courses are the transfer of both theoretical and practical knowledge, experienced tutors having an in-depth knowledge of standards and the needs of different industries, and modern workplaces for the practical sessions.

I am a qualified mechanical engineer and have been with Fraunhofer since 1998. For many years, I was involved in national and international research projects as a project engineer and project coordinator.
I have been head of the Technical Qualification and Consultancy department since 2015. In this department, we have made it our mission to bring technical developments closer to people. Tailored to their individual professional needs.
I am very pleased that with the EBBC we can present an institution where people not only learn and understand state-of-the-art technologies, but also where the culture of learning meets modern, contemporary standards.
My academic background is in business administration, specifically Marketing and International Management. I obtained my diploma at Otto-Friedrich-University in Bamberg and at the Copenhagen Business School.
I started my career in industries in different positions in international product and brand management for consumer goods. After 7 years working as a University Lecturer and in charge of a study program, I started my next career step with a focus on lifelong learning at the Fraunhofer Academy.
Since 2022, I’m leading the development of the European Battery Business Club. The coordination of the international consortium consisting of different universities and Fraunhofer Institutes is one of my major tasks. With my expertise as learning professional I define the right set-up from a pedagogical perspective to ensure the best possible learning success.

Because I have always been very interested in photography and film, I studied media studies in Constance, Prague and Oldenburg. During my Bachelor’s and Master’s studies, I focused a lot on science communication.
Since 2018, I have been using this knowledge at the Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Technology and Advanced Materials IFAMI in Bremen in the field of technical qualification and consulting. As a certified scientific trainer, I design and manage training courses based on Fraunhofer research knowledge. One of my main areas of work thereby focuses on e-learning.
That’s why you won’t see me as a teacher in the EBBC training sessions – I leave the talking about batteries to the experts! But one of my responsibilities is to make sure that you can watch their videos whenever and wherever you want!
